We left DFW Airport Tuesday, August 17, 2004 around 3pm and flew all night and arrived a Zurich,CH at about 8am the next morning. We flew on AA and the flight was about 10 hours, they showed 2 movies in flight and the seats were very uncomfortable, especially after such a great flight on BA last time. After we arrived in Zurich, we went downstairs to the Train station and boarded the train to Fribourg which took 2 hours. We had purchased our train pass quite a bit ahead of time and I can't rave enough on how great it was. We did opt for the 1st class Swiss Saverpass, which several times it would have been a tight squeeze in 2nd class due to all the people, and which entitled us to unlimited train, bus, and boat travel for 15 days. It was so nice to just get on the train and go, and if the Conductor came by for tickets we just showed him the Swiss Pass and thank you was all we ever heard. The Train system in Europe is so wonderful, the trains were always on time, very easy to read the schedules. I think that the only time one was late, it was coming from Italy, and it was made known that it was the Italians fault for being late and that the Swiss would get it back on time.
Carlos and Milchen met us in Fribourg which was about 30 minutes from their Chalet, it was so wonderful to get off the train and there they were. They toured us around Fribourg as our pre-checked luggage hadn't arrived yet. The town was beautiful, as we were to learn, they all are. There are fountains everywhere and everyone just fills their water bottles up in them, and the water was always so cold and sweet tasting.
