Petrie Island Track

Destination Paddled: Petrie Island, Orleans, Ontario
Date: July 10, 2019
Number of Paddlers: 3
Temperature: 27C (80 F)
Distance paddled: 5.8 km (3.6 miles)

This was a “we have to get out paddling” paddle. There was thunder and lightening forecast and we didn't want to be out on the water and get caught. So, we chose to do a quick paddle and get off the water about an hour before the storms moved in. They didn't move in until much later but you never know and discretion is the better part of valour. The river levels appear to be back to normal now. Probably because of the pending storm, very few people were out either on the water or at the beach.

This is also the time of year when the weather gets hot and sticky. It was 27C (80F) but the humidity made it feel like 34C (93F). We got off the water before it got much worse. For my friends in Florida, I know this is nothing.

Saw a lot of Canada Geese and their babies. Babies were learning how to fly. It was fun to watch them running across the water. Also saw several turtles and some Mallards and their babies.

Enjoy the pictures.
