God always knows the next step in the journey and I’m glad.
During draught and famine God provided water and food for Elijah.
When the brook dried up, God continued to sustain the prophet
with another miraculous provision through a widow and her son.
God sustained all of them for over three years.
Then THE LORD sent rain to replenish the land.
1 Kings 17:1-10–The Story
Then the word of THE LORD came to Elijah saying,
“Go away from here and turn eastward, and hide yourself
by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan … drink of the brook,
and I have commanded the ravens to sustain you there.”
So he went and did according to the word of THE LORD…
Now it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because
there was no rain in the land. Then the word of THE LORD came
to him, saying, “Arise, go to Zarephath … and remain there;
behold, I have commanded a widow there to sustain you.”
So Elijah arose and went to Zarephath.
“Whether you turn to the right or to the left,
your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying,
‘This is the way; walk in it.’” – Isaiah 30:21
