This composition focuses on the
Church Season of Lent that prepares us
for the Season of Easter and the celebration
of the resurrection.

God says, cry aloud like a trumpet…
make clear the fast I choose—
undo heavy burdens…
share your bread…
care for the homeless,
be present to family….
(Isaiah 58:1-7)

Then your light shall break forth
like the dawn;
your healing will spring up …
the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.
(Isaiah 58:8)

“When you fast, anoint your head
and wash your face, so that your fasting will not be noticed
by people but by your Father who is in secret;
and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.”
