DINNER'S READY !!!
My step-mother Vicky was an extremely good sport about helping
me out with some silliness for a picture for April Fool's Day.
The idea for this image began from a picture made some years
ago when my daughter Kara was a youngster who needed a chair
to reach the *sink*.
The idea was more solidified (at least in my own mind) when I
called Vicky a few days ago to wish her Happy Birthday and
make arrangements to come down to visit her.
Now I wasn't altogether sure if Vicky was going to go along
with this craziness. But much to her credit, she not only
endulged her step-son, but she also went the extra distance:
pinning up her apron; finding a hairnet to wear; kneeling on
the chair to give the impression of stumpy legs (a not too
easy balancing act); and even snagging my pipe to add
extra silliness to the situation.
I was honestly finding it hard to concentrate on the image
making here because I was nearly in tears from laughing so
much -- to know Vicky is to know this is quite a departure from
her more regular quiet, unassuming self. So she really was being
an extremely good sport about all this.
And for me at least, the image is even more meaningful because
Vicky is famous with us for her cooking (indeed "Vicky food" is
a phrase in our family).
So both her and I had a most enjoyable time doing this April
foolishness. And certainly much to her credit.
