John Casey Serving in Africa WW II

Aftrica

John Casey was my father-in-law. Sadly, he died before I married his daughter. I have some very fond memories of him. He and my Dad were best friends. Talk about friendship knowing no boundaries, John was a staunch Roman Catholic with one kin who was a Papal Knight and another an RC priest. My father was an equally staunch Presbyterian from a family of Orange Lodge members and Knights Templar. All of this was put aside.

This image is of John Casey while he served in North Africa during WW II. He was in the RAF and was a service championship boxer. He is the airman on the right. Notice the "water of life" bottles to the right of the tent. ;-)

Like many other servicemen who fought under almost constant stressful conditions for extended periods of time, he suffered from early onset heart disease which claimed him all too soon.
