As we can see, the artist put a great deal of effort into presenting this vision of what Lochwood Tower looked like in its prime. We now know that the central portion of the building was 2 stories high, not the one story as pictured. The first floor was a large, vaulted room with a massive fireplace at the end opposite the tower. Our Clan Chief lived in the upper story.
