I believe these to be coats of arms of male descendants of one or more of the several Robert Bruce lords. Which one is not certain. Record keeping was not all that great back then, and the traditional rules of heraldry were neither that traditional nor adhered to when known. It is as clear as mud.
The Fitzpatrick of Ossary is an interesting coat of arms. The Irish claim this family as their own - 100% Irish; however, in checking a Y-DNA data base I quickly saw that there were several haplogroups identified, including I-M223 which is probably Dane>Norman>Northumbria origin with a stopover in Scotland. The saltire and chief format of the coat of arms certainly points to a Bruce connection.
The saltires (crosses) of Anderson, Murray of Cockpool, Tait and Tweedie had me scratching my head for awhile. What where they? The Tweedie saltire is obviously engrailed, but the other 3 appeared to me to be a wee bit odd. As it turned out, all 4 are basically the same saltires. Apparently, the artists took some liberties and did a wee bit of creative drawing to be different.
