Snail Shells - Island Apple Snail

Image is straight from the camera without any adjustments. Lens cover would not retract fully, accounting for the dark area. Just what I needed - a broken camera when I needed it the most ;-)

These shells are from the Island Apple Snail, an invasive species that appears to be limited in its U.S. range by cold weather. I found these and hundreds of others on a bank of the Clear Creek in Pearland, Texas.
