Hawk House - Rough Finish

Pearland, Texas

My helper started to prime the beveled-cedar siding before I cut it to size and put it up; however, she ran out of steam before the job was finished ;-) I went ahead with the installation using screws so that I can take down the siding when the weather is nicer, finish painting it and reinstall it with ease. The rough cedar framework will remain natural. Only the siding will be painted almond.

Other work yet to be done is trimming and securing the edges of the EPDM rubber roofing and then using 2"x8" rough cedar trim to hide it from sight. The wood on top of the EPDM along the edges is just scrap that I'm using temporarily to hold down the EPDM edges in the windy weather until I can trim it and apply the mastic. There is also some trim work to be done around the door. The inside will be finished with Coroplast sheeting.

My simple $750 project is now double that amount after input from my wife which necessitated several design changes...I must say that it does have more eye-appeal though :-)

Right now the hawk house is technically ready for inspection though.
