Ruins of Carthage

The ruins of the ancient city of Carthage are near the port of La Goulette. The Romans destroyed the original city of Carthage in about 160BC, most of the remains are from the Roman city built on the site.

Just a correction -- the Romans destroyed the city in 146BC. The exact year is not lost to history. It was a three-year siege, commencing in 149BC, culminating in a Roman breakthrough into the city, ending with the enslavement or extermination of the entire populace and the city being fired.
