26Jan06 Hearth Leaf - 9924

Connecticut

Photo a Day, Day 302...Managed to do a bit of cleaning up today... it is amazing how many dvd-r/+r's and cd-r's I found on my desk completely unlabeled... finished up the desk and then this evening decided to clean up around the wood stove a bit - when you bring in wood you always bring in little bits and pieces that get spread all over the place. This leaf is one of the items that piggie backed its way in. I liked how it looked on the brick hearth and decided to try to photograph it on its level. Problem - tripod doesn't go down that far and there is no way I can hold 1/4s at 100mm within 12" of the object... soooooo I rested the camera on our dogs stuffed snake toy... seems to have done the trick!

ACR, masked curves layer to burnin corners, Resize, Frame, Sharpen: PhotoshopCS2

other sizes: small medium original auto

Probably the most unusual thing the snake has had to do for quite a while, lol! This looks great ... :)

I like the dof and the tones. Well done!

The leaf position looks like it came streaming down from the tree and hit shoulders first - staying that way. your detail and shallow dof are excellent

I have one of those stacks of like 50 unlabled CD's/DVD and NEED to get going on them.
and LOL at using the dogs snake--was the dog getting nervous and pacing wondering what was going on with his toy?? It worked, so I hope you can get a replacement for the dog and put this snake in your bag :)
