15Jan06 Snow and Ice (color)- 9783

Connecticut

Photo a Day, Day 291...We went from the 50s and rain yesterday to the 20s and snow today... Some of the rain drops mixed on the juniper froze and snow has piled on top. I did a monochrome version of this as well and was torn as to which to post for the main photo a day.... I think I chose wrong yesterday - I liked the yellow flowers shot more than the fungus and lichen but didn't want 2 all yellow shots in a row... I keep going back and forth on the monochrome and color on this and have ended up with the color one here... Monochrome is below

ACR, Touch of Curves, Resize, Frame, Sharpen: PhotoshopCS2

Canon EOS 20D ,Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM
1/80s f/3.5 at 100.0mm iso400 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

I think the bokeh in the color pic makes the difference for me.
But I like them both for different reasons.

I love the tiny touch of colour ... such a hard decision to have to make! :)

Looks like the kind of day when you have to use a tripod or shoot with a shivver!

Difficult choice... not sure which I'd have chosen, but I think maybe this one, too. The limited palette in this is almost as a b/w tone wise, but the little poke of color are great. (Does that make sense??)
No wonder why we're all sick.

Gorgeous! I like both versions!
