11July05 My Fish!

Mystic, CT

Photo a Day, Day 104...My son has a day camp in Mystic this week so I decided to check out the Osprey family on the way back from dropping him off.. The young ones have grown alot in the past month. They are now the size of their parents! The young ones are the ones with the white spots on their wings - The one with its wings open is a parent..
This was shot with Manual Focus - for some reason I haven't been happy with the Auto Focus on my 100-400 when shooting something that is in the distance.. they always seem just a little bit out of focus. Not sure if it is something with the lense or what.. But really happy with the shots I took with Manual Focus today..
Put up several more in a new "Osprey Family" gallery..

Also put up an "Egret" gallery with several shots I took of a Great Egret today.. http://www.pbase.com/cjburianek/egret

The Osprey is my favourite bird. I have a few shots of the ones near my place. Nice capture. How did you get them face on? Our nest is very high.

Fabulous capture! Looks like something out of a nature magazine!

Great catch.

Fascinating additions to basic nesting materials ... guess the plastic bags could help waterproof the nest. Beautiful birds ... :)

Great capture, CJ.
I set my lens at minimum F8, and that has sharpened my shots a lot.

This is good Cj! I like the struggle for the fish, that adds a lot of interest.
