::Parintins Gallery::

Sailing up the river we came to an island town of Parintins. Located about halfway between Santarem near the Amazon River's mouth and Manaus.
It can only be reached by boat & is the site of one of Brazil's great folk celebrations, "The Boi Bumba Festival", a colorful fusion of Portuguese & Amazonian folkways.
The annual Boi Bumba Festival features two competing teams (the Red and the Blue Teams). Each year the 2 teams strive to outperform each other
with colourful costumes, incredible music, dance and allegorical floats decorated with Amazonian flowers, tree barks and feathers.
