Cootes' Paradise

Hamilton, Ontario

Along the Highway, a drive by shot.

Cootes Paradise was first recognized for its significant wildlife in the 1770s, when Captain Thomas Coote, a British soldier,
regularly visited the area to hunt and fish. When the area was first settled in the 1790s, it was called Coote's Paradise.

Beautiful scene strange name. It sounds like it's out of one of Lilian Jackson Braun's books. But it must be a family name?
