I think the best veiw of ashdown house is from weathercock down.I worked on the downs 70years ago looking after the race horse gallops and see the house every day. around that time someone tried to steal the lead off the roof but the police cought the culprits. has anyone ever explained how all the large sarson stones got to the fields in front of the house?
