Rain in the Desert

Quail Creek, AZ

An appropriate day - we in the Sonoran Desert in SE AZ are giving thanks for the rain we are getting today. It is about 1.3 inches here so far - not much for northern states. But we in the desert give thanks! I am hoping that Madera Canyon in the Santa Rita Mtns gets more. A neighboring canyon, FL Station, has received 1.5 in as of now. Better.

Dave, Thanks. The heaviest rains were north of us. This is/was a huge system. And yes, it was EL Nino related. The Pacific waters have been very warm.

A much nicer scene than the flooding I've seen on TV. Hope that stays far from you and abates soon. El Nino related?

Paul - no illusion. That little cactus is leaning - and I have no idea why. They are normally straight. But this one has two little ones coming up behind it. That could be the reason to lean, but I really don't know.

Is that leaning cactus an illusion, or is it in fact leaning as much as the camera is portraying? Follow-up question: If it is actually leaning that much, is that normal?

Lots of mountain flowers coming your way! The air is always cleaner after a rain also....breath deep. Congratulations on the rain...best wishes, Traveller
