This is Doc, my medic from Vietnam who probably saved my life several times...I was coming off a 36 hour fast for some work at City of Hope, (geeze that place is huge...the various departments are so far from each other they have neat small electric shuttles to get people from here to there).
In any case being famished after no solid food for too long, I was wolfly eating my senior Omelette at Denny's when Doc called me from the Getty, he was down from Grass Valley ca and wanted me to meet him at the Getty...I was exhausted but I abandoned my Omelette and with Google maps, (how did we ever live without Google Maps!?!), it said from Eastern LA County I could be at the Getty in 38 minutes...a very unknow route to me, but we Trust The Google.
Doc said he needed me to Walk Point for him, (I take this a mild military insult), but this was Doc who I probably haven't seen since before Covid...so I hustled myself down to the Getty and interestingly, meeting Doc...I sighed at how terrible he looked, (to me), but as we wandered the museum at his direction and insistence...I noted that as time when on, he was getting stronger while I was getting weaker....We laughed when my watch went off with celebratory confetti with me passing 6,000 steps....but I was dog tired.
Oh, and thanks to a post here about my City Planner time, I went back to inspect my old city even before I got to Denny's...I introduced myself around, got to sit in my old city council seat...but most interestingly there was a bronze plaque for the rebuilding of the old city hall dated 1975...my name wasn't on it, but I knew these people, knew their names, they were my mentors, and while I was only involved in the plan check, parking ect....the plaque still....made me stop. Such an October 6th I had! Best Wishes, Traveller
