Paul - the 80D is like my 90D - no internal stacking, and to truly stack you need to shoot multiple shots. Not easy to do with a moving insect. I have found the best to increase the dof and sharpness is shoot at f/18 and highspeed, like 1/500 . ISO goes high, but noise reduction software like topaz is excellent. To avoid the software, use a flash, probably off camera here. Jim

I’d think the most effective post for this super capture would be stacking but of course since the 80D doesn’t have a stacking feature (does it?) then one has to plan ahead. Paul

I don't necessarily "hate" post. I generally have three reasons to do it. One the camera settings were not perfect as was the camera, and the photo needs technical work - like sharpening, tonal adjustment, denoise, etc. The second reason is to add some art into the photo, sort of what I see/saw in my minds eye. Simple examples like darkening the clouds more, blurring the background or an object, enhancing the subject lighting and changing the entire background to a bit darker and lower saturation. A third example might be the removal of people or an object from the frame. Jim

T - the tradeoff of a higher iso is being to use a f/16 or more aperture and a shorter exposure in exchange for more noise. The depth of field of these lenses is really short. But Dave tries to avoid the more post process work that then is needed. Jim

You are having lots of fun and doing very interesting work...which I support you continuing with the 100MM marco. I kick myself all time for buying the 60mm marco lens useful only for Rebel Canon Cameras. Very Jealous I am...lol...but still, a higher iso might improve this very good image...that could be better still. Keep shooting...a lot, it is all digital...so no worries. Best Wishes, Traveller
