I think I need to take a photography theory class. I see controls for things such as "unsharp mask" and think to myself "it isn't brain surgery. It isn't, is it?

Anyway, I think I'll post my own, less-processed, moon shot, if only to illustrate the different perspectives between our latitudes.
Oh yes, I punched up the contrast mucho....nor do I consider this cheating...I probably added shadow x2...noise reduction, then smart sharpening, and, finally after a slight resize for posting, a full pass of Unsharp mask. (over sharpening can produce a hideous mess, so I am always trying to find subtle ways to enhance the image...but also to NOT add final unsharp mask..or other techniques...just leave them alone if they don't work).
I was in a very bright restaurant parking lot with the moon low on the horizon, so lots of atmospheric haze, but also atmospheric magnification...important because I don't really have a very long lens....200mm maximum.

You must be psychic. I have moonshots "in the can". I tried shooting the lunar eclipse Thursday night. I was lazy and didn't bother using a tripod. So I probably felt the need to redeem myself and had the camera ready to go.
