Yellowlegs picking through the dead fish/minnows

As the temps rise, and you go a couple of weeks without rain,
something has to give.
The water holes are drying up, and the shorebirds are finding some easy pickings.

Paul, The "west" is full of stories which involve "water holes". Many time they are few and far between for both people and animals.

When I hear or read "water holes", I think of Africa (where "dams" are also a thing). I don't recall ever hearing the term used about places in the US. Fine image.

Truth is I worry more about the whole riverine ecosystem, especially the Colorado, the Rhine, and the Danube....the Estuary of the Danube I thought of as Eden...literary, it blew my socks off with its lovely density of life everywhere.
