Like Paul, I was watching at home. And I agree with Mr T - I too had proposed that the coach just not play Balogin and instead follow the recognized rules.

They might have played better, and Belgium would not have been so motivated.

I must note here that the United States knows how to win World Cup Matches...

The United States Woman's Team has won 4,count them, four World Cup Titles...not games, but the entire World Cup 4(!) times!

The US Men's team not so much...

I have had two objections to the US Men's team, Christian Pulisic's let bible study and prayer on and off the field...praising God for their win's, staying silent on their losses;

2). The recent Balogun controversy lead to Cheaters never win, Tons of bulletin board motivation for Belgium and a loss of focused intensity by the US Team.

Suddenly, they played lousy...

The only real and honorable solution for the US Team was to not accept Balogin as being on the field for this game...seriously, a smarter coach would have told the team we are going to win this game without Balogun....

AS to Watch Party vs TV...for pure drama, for being in the game, TV is better, the Norway game sure sucked me in before I left for the England watch party...which was a fine social experience as opposed to soccer intensity.

I keep it simple with the World Cup watch parties, I stay home and watch the games on TV. Watched the US get their @ss get smoked last night. SMOKED! Paul

I saw some pretty good ones from my hotel window. No time yet to relook at the photos and video I shot.
But this is a great capture.

No displays where we were. One might think they'd celebrate being rid of a pesky colony.

I went to the Mexico/England watch party at the Getty Center/Getty Museum, principally because I recommended that a professoir I know do this while in South America learning Spanish...but it worked out fabulous for me....even the rain delay was great because it allowed to wander various galleries at the Getty...many new works were on display, several new Rembrandt's, Hans Memling’s masterpiece Last Judgment...etc, the rain delay was great for me.

Later, all seats and tables taken in the Getty's outdoor cafe, I met a lovely Afghan woman, a teacher in the Valley and her El Salvadorian girlfriend as we tried to huddle under a small umbrella to shade us from a burning sun. *(I have never met a young Afghan woman before, this was quite the treat for me!)

She bravely then snagged us an upfront table, and while they were for Mexico and I noisily for England, we all had a fabulous time together. I haven't been to a watch party since one in Salzburg, Austria ....again another great time.

In any event, I am happy I recommended Watch Parties to my friend since it forced me to get out and try it again myself...so I have some gratefulness to him, Best Wishes, Traveller

The display we attended last night was pretty impressive for a small community (4 ish thousand residents) and minimal crowds. Paul
