There is the old saying, “fool me once” I say next time walk past the Kirkland brand. Since Costco’s in Kansas can’t sell wine and spirits, the closest one in Missouri is midtown KCMO which isn’t very convenient anyway. Paul

I wanted better for you, Paul. Salute!

I have had mixed results with the Costco brand of reds. A couple of their Cabs have been quite good (for the price), a couple of others not.

It took about 3 attempts before I was happy with the results of the wine swirling. Even then I tried again the next evening but kept coming back to this one.

As far as the wine goes I thought I’d put a little twist to a typical entry and see who was awake and wanted to play.

It is Gemini Jim for the win. It was Costco’s Kirkland brand 2022 Chianti Classico Riserva. Being honest I was not impressed, I was minding my own business when I stumbled upon a You Tube video that made the wine sound stupendous and was sure to sellout promptly. I also bought a Rioja that I suspect will end in the same result. Paul

After my guess, I asked Gemini for a comment. It said
Based on the vibrant, translucent ruby color and the visible clarity in the glass, Chianti or Pinot Noir are the strongest contenders from the list.

Chianti: Often exhibits this exact bright, ruby-red hue with lighter edges, matching the classic Italian table setting vibe.

Pinot Noir: Known for being much lighter and more translucent than denser reds, which aligns well with how the light catches the liquid.

Denser, more opaque varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec typically show a much deeper, darker core that wouldn't appear quite this bright under direct light.

Out of the choices provided, Chianti seems like a very solid guess for that particular shade of red.

Out of your list, some of the lightness implies Chianti to me.

Hopefully no spills of that delicious valpolicella.

How many shots did it take to get this swirl of....Merlot? Traveller
