Having driven through a lot of states over the last couple years - I would agree with Dave that there are a lot of drivers holding a phone in one hand an attempting to drive. Though my personal best "distracted bad driver" I saw was a woman coming down an entrance ramp to the interstate with no hands on the steering wheel, holding up a mirror with her left hand while applying makeup with her right.
I sped up to get way ahead of her.

There are so many drivers in Michigan disobeying the "no phone in hand while driving" law that it has become a joke. For the record: Bluetooth and the car's speakers and microphones. I imagine there's text-to-voice and vice-versa, but I'm not interested.

Paul - It sounds like an open and shut case of "distracted filling" .

Re the actual law : The myth that "if the engine is running, it's a ticket" is a common piece of misinformation often repeated online, but the statutory text requires the vehicle to be actively operating within public transit spaces for a violation to occur.

In Kansas and Missouri they write you up for having a phone in your hand if the engine is running. A local talk radio host told a story about right after the law took effect he was written up for checking his email at a gas pump while filling up his tank. That was a little over the top and abuse of power for that cop. I don’t remember if he took it to court or not. Paul

I got a good look at it a few minutes earlier when I passed it. The Celestiq is a very distinctive automobile.

This was taken at a traffic light I visit often. I knew I had a solid minute to shoot.

I’m impressed that You can ID the exact model from a rear view mirror and have the presence of mind to take a photo of it. Hand made like Henry Ford did back in the late 1800 or whenever it was? Paul

It's the hand-built, ultra-luxury Cadillac Celestiq.

Let me guess -- It looks like a Cadillac LYRIQ electric luxury SUV; featuring an illuminated Black Crystal Shield grille.

I only have one Alfa, Traveller. This was taken in my Fiat Spider (which has a mediocre audio system) when stopped at a traffic light.

Ah, but which Cadillac, Paul. Hint: it's a very expensive and rare model.

Everyone knows that’s a Cadillac, (except Traveller) in the rear view mirror. Paul

At first, I thought these were rear window area huge woofer speakers...knowing your musical passions...why not? On 2nd inspection I realized how foolish I was...this was a damned Cell Phone, rear view mirror...I don't know the car, but knowing you, I suspect it is one of your Alfa's...? Traveller
