If you don’t have a PRV at your main water shutoff then you have an open system and knowing your pressure is irrelevant. With no PRV then I’m also guessing your hot water heater doesn’t have an expansion tank which is also unnecessary unless your water line or city meter has a check valve/ back flow preventer. Some do. Our builder used a lot of poly tube in many of the water lines. They also did not include regulators on the main intake line. As a result neighbors talk about random failures over the years of random poly lines.
Our water pressure has gone up and down over the years as well.

Sure add a photo. And when I say pressure meter, it’s actually a gauge and all the home improvement stores sell them, they simply screw on to a water hose faucet. Inside or outside the home. Of course none of it matters if you don’t have an adjustable pressure reducing valve at your main water shutoff. Paul

We do not have RO (or softening), just a chlorine filter. Would a picture of the installation help? I can add some red to it.

Based on our sinks and showers (not all of which are flow-restricted), I would be surprised if our pressure is abnormally high.

Sounds like you have a RO water system so my question would be if you replaced that filter recently. Almost all of those use 1/4 inch push in connectors with polyethylene tubing and if it wasn’t inserted all the way or if the tube has even a small defect, kink, weakness or burr then it’s not a matter of if but rather when. Glad you, with the help of technology found and resolved it quickly. 10 to 15 bucks at Home Depot you can get a pressure meter and you’ll know if your pressure is above the magic number of 80. Paul

Do you suspect our water pressure is too high, Jim? There's no evidence of it elsewhere in our house.

This hose drains the chlorine filter when it does a regeneration cycle, which I believe takes around 30 minutes.

I found the snow blower I want.

Yep, an 8 ft ladder for me too, and I go up until my knees touch the upper step - no higher.
Then I carefully come down. I had a friend who missed the last step coming down and messed up his knee for months.
Ugh on the water filter hose. You may want to check your water pressure.

8-foot stepladder is my max. And I find plenty of things to do besides snow removal. Dealing with a water filter hose that came loose at 4:00 AM on Wednesday, for instance. Thank goodness for water bugs. That one earned a new 9V battery.

28 ft ladder !! even in my best days I would not go up that. My fear of heights would stop me part way up.

Most likely it will never get out of my blue collar blood the desire to stay active, take on and accomplish tasks that I know I can do myself and I still enjoy getting things done. That said trying to handle my old 28 foot extension ladder these days is a bear and since I contacted the foot condition it hasn’t budged from the garage. Paul

I'm not ashamed to admit we hire a plowing service. They do a great job, and I still get to maintain the area outside the back door for the dog.

Paul - we could have some real good story tellin here regarding snow and snow blowers. When I grew up in upstate NY and lived at home, my brothers and I were the "snow machines". When I moved to Michigan, in our 1st house - I was the sole snow machine. But being in my late 20s it seemed easy. It got tougher when we moved to MN, colder, more snow, and a longer driveway. We lived on a cul-de-sac. My neighbors and I bought a singe stage MTD like you. It worked ok. Then we moved into a 2nd house, more in the country - and a longer wider driveway . Bought a great 2-stage Toro. That worked very well for years until I got tired of the cold and snow and moved to AZ.

My days of being strong and fit are gone, I have a budget friendly single stage MTD snowblower I bought back in 2012 I use. Worked perfect on my drive and walks including the pile the plow left at the end of the driveway. Then I loaded it up in my truck (pretty awkward to lift) and took it to my daughters place about a mile east and I got hers 90% done when the pulley shroud came off and that let snow and ice build up on the pulley and drive lever stopping the blower dead in its tracks since that makes the drive belt slip. I was cold by then so I said good enough. Sorry neighbor lady, I was gonna do yours too.

That you're able to go out and shovel speaks well of your medical condition. I've been clearing a path to our dog's pen as well as the pen itself. We've gotten about another four inches on top of the six we already had. The ice storm hasn't really begun where our daughter is in North Carolina, and our son in Florida will probably be hearing thunder in a few hours. Stay warm and safe, all.

Just makes me feel cold.

I’d stay and chitchat but my snowblower is calling my name with a fresh new layer of 3 to 4 more inches. It’s too blasted cold to go out with the phone and try and record the snow blowing process. The football player college kid across the street taped flyers on doors offering snow removal and heavy lifting help. I could hire him but then it would deny me the fun of freezing my butt off and seeing how long it takes for my hands and feet to thaw. Second thought I wonder how that would look on my FLIR cam. Hmmmm…🤔. Paul

I can see the cold! Very instructive and creative...Traveller

I’ve had this camera for years, used to use it to locate overheating electrical wiring, contacts and equipment. Customers were always impressed when I would show them photos of their equipment that kept failing.

The problem is the camera has a lightning connector but my phone now has a USB C connector and no adapter is available to adapt it so I had to pull out an old iPad that’s not used anymore to get this. Paul

Twilight Zone moment: I just saw a Facebook at for a thermal/infrared camera.

A picture of our house from outside in cold weather would probably be depressing.
