Right you are, Paul; they're our basement stairs (our main stairs aren't much wider). And our long-unused ski boots (I stopped skiing when the kids did) live on a shelf in the furnace room, at the opposite end from the electrical panel.
I grew up in a house with front and rear stairs and briefly lived in one about twenty years ago. It's a nice feature that I wish our present home had. Oh, well, I'm getting some extra steps.

I love the creativity thinking. I gave all my ski gear away a couple years back since my body is going downhill and didn’t want to risk injury.
I’m guessing this is likely a rear stairwell or a basement rather than the homes main stairwell, it appears slightly smaller than a typical set of stairs. Paul
Nice idea. We have three pairs of ski boots somewhere in the garage, but we haven't used them for years. I dislocated my shoulder skiing many years ago, and then got into running, so didn't want to risk a skiiing injury interfering with race training. Pretty much everyone else in Boulder is an avid skier, with so many great skiing areas within an easy drive.
