You can buy a hand powered coffee grinder. It doesn't seem worth it for the rare power outages though (at least they are rare around here). We should just remember to have some ground coffee in the freezer for emergencies.

Nice of Nespresso. Of course they want you to keep buying their capsules. I use mine mostly on weekends, when I usually only have one mug. My wife and daughter are the main Keurig users.

Is there such a thing as a hand-powered coffee grinder? I'm guessing your stove is electric. Ours is gas, and our grill also has a side burner that I've never used.

There have been so many coffee studies. My brain, my heart, and my digestive system are all confused. It tastes good, so I'll keep drinking it. The same goes for wine, though in much smaller quantities.

Very nicely arranged composition, and great use of reflections. Since we got our Nespresso machine, we have barely used our other coffee makers (two French presses, a standard drip machine, and an Aero Press). When the Nespresso broke a while back, We had to relearn how to use the Aero Press, which makes pretty good espresso. I called the Nespresso people (it was out of warranty), and they sold me a reconditioned version of the same machine at a really good price. They also sent me a shipping label to send them the broken one. I assumed they were going to recondition it and sell it to someone else, but they actually returned it to me, repaired, at no cost. So now I have a spare in the basement. I'm thinking I'll take it into work, once I get my office back (the building where my department is based has been undergoing renovations for over two years, and we are in temporary accommodations, with almost no office space). We had a power outage the other day for several hours in the morning. It affected a large part of Boulder, so local restaurants weren't open. We had to break out our propane stove to boil water, and drink instant coffee! We had no ground coffee in the house for the Aero Press. You really appreciate good coffee, after having to drink instant. I keep reading about studies that say coffee consumption helps stave off dementia, so I have no plans to cut down any time soon.

I used to be a very heavy coffee drinker...4 to 5 cups a day....now it is one in the morning and that is about it....but I want it to be a good cup to wake me up...of late, I am drinking a cup or two of of a great variety of teas later in the day...but mostly just water now...an occasional drink, but not often.

Yes I grind my own, but mostly for a week or two...I put it airtight Mason jars and open when necessary. That's my plan...Traveller

I noticed the coffee stains and thought they lent authenticity to the image. Do you grind beans every day? I admit I don't.

My drip machine has a stainless carafe that always looks clean on the outside. I clean the inside regularly, but coffee has a way of staining even stainless eventually.

I purchased a bag of decaf accidentally and wish I could give it to someone while it's still fresh.

Now I understand why it looks brand new. Well used ones you lightly sand with very fine emery cloth and apply food grade mineral oil. Paul

The white eye dropper in levels can do wonders with white...as to maintaining the butcher's block....I do nothing to maintain it...I would never use such a beautiful thing for cutting!!! It is a piece of Art to me. Best Wishes, Traveller

No surprises here that I’m not a coffee person but I certainly enjoy your subject, light and angles on this entry. Especially the way you’ve captured and edited it to disappear into the light at the top.

lol....you Are a coffee person...this is a second posting...I had everything polished and gleaming....but I made the coffee in the French Press and at least photographically the glass sides looked....coffee stained...so I had to re-shoot it...the other is more homey and warm....this posted version is cleaner though.

The very nice cutting board was a gift from a chemist friend up in Utah....sometimes I think he works wood to beat the pressures of life...which are many for all of us.

In any case, it was a cool gift, thanks for noticing.

Love me some quality coffee in a French press. I admit I haven't used mine in years, if not decades. Its cork base disappeared during our last move, and I'm kind of waiting for it to turn up before using the glass and metal wonder. No, the odds are not good.

Meanwhile, I have a Zojirushi drip coffee maker, a Nespresso machine, a Keurig, a Bialetti Moka Express, and a Vietnamese phin filter. I suppose I should get an Aero

Nice butcher block, by the way. Did you shoot handheld or with the aid of a tripod?
