In a hurry to be first in line for the lunch buffet? 10:30 is a civilized time to leave church. I can remember being taken to a church in Syracuse when I was a grad student. The preacher was the father of the rock singer Grace Jones (who also appeared in a Bond film). My friend, who took me and my wife, was a film student, who was making music videos with Grace Jones's brother, Chris. The sermon alone lasted 90 minutes, and the whole service, complete with speaking in tongues (the woman next to me fell to the floor and spoke in tongues for about five minutes), lasted over three hours. It was well past noon before it ended. It was like the church scene in the Blues Brothers, but much more so (that movie's depiction of this sort of church service is actually very understated).
