06 10 Seconds Too Slow

Walked up on this guy on the trail around the lake and he had a fish sideways in his mouth. We stopped and I started to pull my phone my from my pocket and before I could start the camera app he flipped it and took it down the hatch.

Herons and blue jays are bullies. They pick and prey on other animals but flee at the first inkling of risk. I'm still wondering where two of our pond fish are.

I do really love your Blue Heron...its nobility as displayed by you...but this has become almost a philosophical point to be remembered...almost everything is better in the imagination than the reality...let me try to phrase this better...things are better in the imagination than they are in the Reality.

Almost always...(exceptions are also important)

Ok let’s clear up some misleading and inaccurate information. GREAT BLUE HERON! not a crane. 😉 Paul.

I still disagree with Paul...he sees a perfect image in his mind's eye...I see the actual probably reality considerably different...the fish would be in motion, or the fish would wiggle & cover the head of the crane completely destroying the image, or in a hurry to catch the unique image, both the fish and the crane would be OOF...

I speak from experience...I had a wonderful crane shot the crane eating a lizard...but the crane only looked like he was smoking a strange cigrette...sort of with tiny legs...

There was no image there.

To the contrary you have one very excellent picture of a crane.

Actually, I had 2 comments here I thought - but if you read it, you got the message.

While I agree it would have been "stronger", it would have been more unique as well.

As it, it is a fine portrait of a beautiful bird.

Generally when you get close to great blue herons they get nervous, start squawking and fly off. This guy remained quiet and stayed put. I still say it would have been a much stronger photo had the fish still been in his mouth or better yet caught flipping it to swallow it. Paul

Well, Paul, we continue to disagree...you see a missed opportunity, I see a very, very fine image...that you should be proud of...I have seldom seen better. Best Wishes, Traveller
