Tom (AKA I Wish I Had Had a Camera with Me)

Five hens crossed the road as I left home this morning. I knew the Tom had to be somewhere nearby. And there he was, in our neighbor's yard. I moved on before he got too close. Some turkeys attack cars. I didn't want to find out whether he was one of them.

I get chatty when I'm nervous but doubt I'm anywhere as charming as you are, Traveller.

It is far from a "shameful" story. None of us, or least those that will admit it, have some fear of the knife - it is just natural. And yes - the human connection is powerful. And flirting - it's worth many smiles :-)
So you are now hooked via phone to satellite to ? Doctors office, Abbot?

Maybe that name you hung on yourself -- Robot Man-- should be used more often now. I actually like it. Don't retire Traveller, but perhaps Robot Man can begin to emerge into the light.

I’ll tell a shameful story...this was very minor surgery, but fearful to me because I am a bleeder due to taking blood thinners (expensive but how much is a functioning brain worth, exactly?), but while lying on the opperating table, the nurse shaving my chest and swabbing me down with some red antibacterial ointment, I found myself chatting her up, actually flirting with when the Doctor was cutting on me and inserting the monitor in my chest, with several Abbott med people looking on.

Not my best moment, but reinforces my thought that people in extreme danger, (real or not), war, flooding, deep jungle wandering, flirting to try to form some human connection is deeply human. Society refuses to see or understand this probably Autonomic Nervous System coming into play.

Well, having them cut on me a little was not that terrible...connecting the implant to my phone and then the satellite was difficult however.

Thanks for the good thoughts, Nick

I've been able to shoot them in my backyard, and I don't want dents in my car any more than I want them in me.

So the doctor was able to talk you into it. I hope your recovery is swift and the result as intended.

I had to Google Killdeer...now I know.

However, to Dave, this sounds like seeing these birds could be a frequent occurrence.

If so, you can always just park...put your body in danger as it were, (though unlikely in real danger), and shoot the birds from being on foot. (also, just why don't you have your DLSR in your car? Hummmmm) Best Wishes, Robot Man (yes, they did the surgery today...I'm still wiggy ;>}}}}...)

I think they get most aggressive in the spring & mating season.

I didn’t know that about big ole tom’s but makes sense though. I’m well aware of male Canadian geese coming right up to and challenging both people walking and cars driving getting close to a nest. Around here they are known to make a nest in utterly stupid locations as do killdeer. Paul
