Fleeing the Storms

Tucson

The Great Horned Owl (from the Desert Museum) fleeing the two storms over the desert - the Haboob on the left, and a Monsoon on the right. These 2 storms often occur together here in the SouthWest.

Alastair - this is a composite with an AI background. I did catch the owl coming right at me ; but the brush background was too much for my liking. So I took advantage of T's offer/challenge to use some AI.
It will most like fly off by the end of the challenge.

That's a great image. Is it a composite, or did you really catch the owl coming towards you at the exact moment of a lightning strike? Either way, well done!

Paul - in the Tucson area , and east into NM, we get a lot of what they call dust storms.
The dust storms stay closer to the ground, but they can completely cause havoc on the roads. They are as bad as winter snow whiteouts.
The best Haboob photos I have seen are a big dust storm coming down from Phoenix.

I needed to google Haboob, I feel more educated now. I wasn’t familiar with it since they don’t develop in my part of the country. Paul
