Paul, that 2011 shot is phenomenal.

As a veterinarian in training, our son is learning about euthanization from the medical professional's perspective. It's as much knowing what to say as knowing what to do.

Yes, putting a loved cat down is...almost always traumatic...sorry to hear this..he was a lovely cat. Traveller

That cat crossed the rainbow bridge in 2020 I think it was, he was 20 years old. Oddly just today the cat photo I posted in the last challenge, “Three”, had an appointment to go to the vet at 9:00 this morning to be euthanized but I got a call at 7:00 that he had just passed away. Kids were prepared but still upset. Paul

It was Great(!) to go back through 2011, Alastair had his snowy Squirrel, Paul had RJ the hi-key kitty, where is that kitty now? Or even is it?

I had my favorites...Be Still my Beating Heart

And the Golden Hour among others

And Jim was still with nature

I'll up my game somehow.

Paul - I love that shot from 2011.
I have only tried a few, and never retally like the results.
Maybe I should try one again.

My experience with open shutter zooming tells me either you were using a budget tripod (no shame) or you were experiencing what’s called lens wobble and LW can happen to even the best of lenses.

My favorite zoom capture I did was this one from 2011. There was some post work to make it more interesting but the core capture was solid. Paul https://pbase.com/cichallenge/image/135148140

Actually I was standing still. This effect should be entirely due to zoom function...there were about 8 attempts, most on a tripod, but only the hand held seemed to really work. Traveller

I am curious as to the technique - were you walking in, or backing out? And I assume handheld because of the green dip.

Dear Jim:

There are actually two screens playing video. The bright one is a freeze frame of Nicole Kidman in Baby Girl which is clearly visible and the other one was playing a TCM movie but was not freeze-framed. I have to assume the green light is coming from that computer laptop to the left of the main light source. And to the chip-dip, yes, it is Picante Salsa and yummy good.

This was again an accidental shot of sorts. I'm trying to shoot a knife cutting through fruit in one frame with the motion captured and I am having a problem accomplishing this. Conversely, I'm attempting to have an orange rotate around in a white bowl with the orange being distinct at least at the beginning or the end of the shot. This is not working and so I shot my primary law work area in frustration.

But in the end I kind of like it as emblematic of something. Traveller

PS No Paul, I didn't take your hint from my Dangerous Passage, though maybe subconsciously...I was pissed off at my failed knife fruit shot...I've taken so many timed headlight, taillight shots...and images taken well...I think I have to try something else for motion....but it's not working...I seldom did anything as good as you...but I know you know this kind of frustration...I am also busy at the moment/time...it just is taking me a lot of effort to stay alive...I don't mean this badly, but it takes an astonishing amount of effort to stay alive on your own...dishes, laundry, cooking, phone calls, work, problems that tenants have become my problems, Stock Market, Court...so there isn't much set-up time...I am fine but it all seems a little burdensome at times. I know what you did and I was hoping you’d take the subtle hint I dropped in your “dangerous passage” entry. The open shutter zooming feature is not something I can very do well with the iPhone camera. Were you hand holding or on a tripod? Paul

I wonder more about the green trail here. I am curious about the source, and the dip 2/3 in.

I may swap this one out for the same frame in exhibition. T
