This has been cropped about 1/3, from 32MP to 9.4MP. The DOF is enhanced to your eye from the wasp's location. It was on a rounded rock 3-4ft or so away from me. The background is another rock a few ft behind it. The foreground gets naturally blurred with the rock it's on falling off downward, and it's too close for the lens to focus on, plus having a rougher texture - it is a piece of granite. Size wise it is larger than the yellow jacket you see in the fall, maybe 2x longer. Jim

Great shot. Is it cropped? We don't have any all-yellow wasps. How does this one compare in size to the yellowjackets we're seeing a lot of at this time of year? Dave

Seriously, how did you get this great DOF with F6.3? I thought this was shot with you 100mm macro....but apparently not...understand, I have the greatest respect for this image...but that 100-300 must be pretty damned good also. Still, did you take this at some distance and crop down? How did you do this? Thanks...again, not criticism! Traveller
