Those eyes are simply stunning and draw me in, excellent work. My favorite of the challenge so far. Paul

This has been cropped about 1/3, from 32MP to 9.4MP.
The DOF is enhanced to your eye from the wasp's location. It was on a rounded rock 3-4ft or so away from me. The background is another rock a few ft behind it. The foreground gets naturally blurred with the rock it's on falling off downward, and it's too close for the lens to focus on, plus having a rougher texture - it is a piece of granite.

Size wise it is larger than the yellow jacket you see in the fall, maybe 2x longer.

Great shot. Is it cropped? We don't have any all-yellow wasps. How does this one compare in size to the yellowjackets we're seeing a lot of at this time of year?

Seriously, how did you get this great DOF with F6.3? I thought this was shot with you 100mm macro....but apparently not...understand, I have the greatest respect for this image...but that 100-300 must be pretty damned good also. Still, did you take this at some distance and crop down? How did you do this? Thanks...again, not criticism! Traveller
