06 Mower Maintenance

You’re probably wondering WTF is this. It was time to change the oil in my mower and sharpen the blade. I sharpen the blade about 5 or 6 times a season but change the oil annually. Tipping the mower to drain the oil gets a touch messy.

I haven't used a lawnmower in over 45 years. I almost bought one during Covid, when mowing services were grounded.

Dave I have been considering an EGO mower for some time now. (Maybe I wouldn’t have to wear ear plugs) If it wasn’t for the crazy loud high pitch whine of the transmission I’d go buy the new for 2024 EGO LM2206 with the aluminum deck model today but that irritating noise alone gives me pause. They are even on sale @$100.00 off plus a 2nd free battery till the end of the month but if I’m spending $1200.00 for a mower I expect it to be better than that.

Do you mow your own lawn or hire it out? I enjoy mowing so I’ll keep on doing it till I can’t. Paul

I always hated changing the oil in my Toro mower.
Tipping the mower always seemed like a clumsy design.

Do you think you'll ever go electric?

I have two mowers one for each place we have and the 2nd mower pours better and does not get as messy as this one. I have a hand pump to remove the oil from the crank case but on a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 3. Works but it’s also messy and hard, dam hard to clean up. Paul
