04 Color Clash?

view map

Not my color choice for such a fine looking automobile (Dodge Challenger I think) but I hope the owner loves it.

I was at the midtown KCMO Costco and on my way out of the parking lot I drove by this car. It hit me that I should come back around and take a photo of it for the challenge. Very interesting custom paint job to say the least.

Not sure I see the sponge Bob reference. If you’re talking about the yellow protector strips on the bumper “splitter guards”, they were supposed to be removed by the dealer before delivery. Or so says Mr. Google and we all know he’s never wrong. Paul

Sponge Bob?

Neat picture, and nicely appropriate for the challenge. The owner must have a vendetta against everyone in the neighborhood to inflict such an aesthetic monstrosity on them, though.

Am I also qualified to joke about it? Many owners remove badges, so you can't always go by what isn't there. This owner, however, left the 'GT' badge on their car's grille. That suggests V6 to me.

"Hemi" refers to the shape of the engine's combustion chambers. Unlike its famous ancestor, the modern Hemi's aren't truly hemispherical. The marketing people made the most of it, though.

People like the diesel engine's torque, longevity, and efficiency enough to pay about ten thousand dollars extra for it. It's only available on heavy-duty RAM trucks. Light-duty RAMs had to make due with an Italian-made 3.0 liter diesel.

I can’t imagine anyone among us would more qualified to answer that question than yourself Dave. The only reason I suspect it might not be is Dodge is proud of the Hemi engines and they makes sure it’s known with the Hemi logo on the body of the car which I don’t see here.

Not sure I could correctly describe exactly what a Hemi engine is or why I would want one. Kind of like the Cummins Diesel engine. Paul

Does that thing have a Hemi?

HMMM. Perhaps the owner is a person (female?) who likes pink.

Perhaps the owner is also someone who wants strongly contrasting colors.

Perhaps I am still wondering WHY?
