We're getting about a pound a week now. Yummy stuff.

Hi Dave, yes, I just saw that price drop. That's a great price for the R7. You should definitely play with one. I find that I don't miss the top display at all. It takes a little while to get used to the different controls on a mirrorless camera, but once you do, it's really easy. They all have lots of customizability, so you can set it up how you like it, in terms of which buttons and dials do which things. The AF systems are simply incredible. And I like being able to see the exposure through the viewfinder, so I can see the effects immediately of whatever changes I'm making.

Thanks, Paul.

Alastair, Canon just lowered the R7's price: https://www.cpricewatch.com/blog/2023/05/canon-usa-price-drops-eos-r3-r5-r6-r7-and-10-rf-lenses/. Yeah, I'm a little tempted, though I really wasn't planning on getting a mirrorless body until next year. I need to play with one. Just looking at picture of the R7, I can't imagine being happy without a top display and associated controls.

Thanks Dave. If you're looking for a logical upgrade for the 80D, the R7 fits nicely. It has the same in-camera stacking feature as the R6II, and the same sensor as the 90D and M6II, which do focus bracketing, but not stacking in camera. For the same price as the R7, you could also get the R8. I haven't checked, but I presume that has the same stacking feature too. That would give you full frame, but without the IBIS that you get with the R7 or R6II. But if you use it with IS lenses, that's not a big deal.

This looks prettier nice as it is without stacking. Paul

That one is probably at least a week away, more likely ten days to two weeks, from being ready. We have others that are farther along. I expect to eat our first spears later this week. They come up like fireworks, so we'll have plenty for about the next month. They're fatter than I like. It's a little tricky to cook them through without the outside getting a little soggy. The microwave is one way to get around this but not my favorite.

Alastair, your stacked shots are terrific and are adding to my motivation to upgrade my camera.

Nice shot. How long before you can eat it?
