I was on a selfie stick shaming kick for several years, taking pictures of people using them at locations like Angkor Wat and the Wailing Wall and posting them on social media. I liked the old days when people asked others to take their picture (which we still do). I remember offering to take a picture of a Japanese couple who had taken pictures of each other but didn't have one of them together. At first they seemed shocked. That shock soon turned to gratitude. However, I doubt my action prompted them to start asking. That's too bad, because it's nice when people connect, even if only briefly.

I remember reading the description of selfie-sticks as 'wands of narcissism'! They don't seem to be around as much as they used to be. Maybe it was just a passing fad? Perhaps the selfie camera on phones is wider angle these days, so you don't need to hold the phone as far away?

She's in the Netherlands.

I remember you showing the daughters packed luggage many moons back and saying she was studying abroad although I don’t recall which country she’s in. Paul

Special note about spouse. I imagine she's not the only one who usually declines to have her picture taken.

There are few photos of me, because I'm usually the one taking them. Our daughter does enjoy taking group selfies. At least she doesn't use one of those stick thingees.

Many more family photos, most taken away from home (which is where most of the dog photos were shot).

Our daughter is studying in Europe this spring and very much appreciates receiving daily dog photos. So they have been accumulating at a faster-than-usual rate.

I read somewhere once that pet owners have more pictures on their phones of their pets than their spouse’s and sometimes even their kids. How about you Dave? Come on tell us the truth, there’s no shame of having 157 photos of your dogs and only 6 of the wife and kids. Paul

Coddled and not coddled. He's never been the one to take the easy route and he takes his role of household protector seriously. We have to be careful not to let him jump. I'm not sure his joints can take more than a one-step landing. He can't reach to scratch his ears with his hind feet anymore, so that's our responsibility.

Almost 17, and still going strong. That's great. I think small dogs tend to live longer than big ones. And I'm sure he is very coddled.

Actually two different dogs. This is our old (almost 17) guy. The one in Exhibition is his younger “sister”. They’re great little companions.

This picture nearly duplicates one taken when he was a puppy.
