Winter in the desert is tough. The hummer is in a bottlebrush bush which generally has flowers most of the year.

Are those hexagon nubs on the stem from dead flower blooms? Looks like I could insert a 5/16 or 1/4 inch hex key in one and turn. Paul

T - thank you. But don't quit yet. This is one of those serendipitous shots that comes along. I was standing out back by the wall shooting some Quail (more on that later) when this hummer flew in. It landed on the bush next to me, waited a few seconds and then flew off. I was able to get my camera pointed at it and get only 2 shots of it. Cropped a bit in LR, and post processed a bit in LR and Topaz Photo AI. As you know, some shots you can plan out for hours, others just happen. Jim
