23 Evolution of a Cookie

Boulder, CO

One of the Christmas traditions in our house when our son was little was for me to make ginger date cookies, while he 'helped'. He is with us this year for the first time in several years, and he wanted to revive that tradition. This time, he actually did a lot of the work. The dough is very sticky, so it takes quite a bit of shaping the logs on the cookie sheets. Here he is on the right, shaping the dough. On the left, top to bottom we have the dough on the sheets ready for the oven, the logs just after coming out of the oven, and the cookies cut up and put in a tin. They won't be there for long!

Thanks Traveller and Paul. Yes, he gets his looks and his hair from his mother. Lucky boy! He's done a bunch of things over the years: a lot of teaching English as a foreign language in Turkey and Taiwan, and a lot of freelance coding. He's finishing up a Master's degree in Middle Eastern Studies, and preparing to defend his thesis while he's staying with us. The degree is from a Swedish university (Lund), where he spent a couple of years, before living in Taiwan for a couple of years. He likes living in different parts of the world. He even spent a couple of years in Brooklyn!

Your son's personality shines through...I do not know what he does professionally, but maybe he should think about modeling...(grin)...but also sort of true. Best Wishes, Traveller

Good looking kid and appears like he got the hair gene too. Lucky him! Paul

Holiday cookie traditions are some of the best that there are.
