More observant Jews don't do anything considered work (including light switches and appliance controls) during the Sabbath. Areas are defined where they can "carry", which is especially important to parents of young children.
Thank you for the verification and additional info, I didn’t know that. I also remember installing lots and I do mean lots of timers and other automated systems to turn on and off lights and other electrical devices/appliances for the sabbath. Paul
New candles are lit nightly at sundown, adding one every night until the menorah is full. They take about an hour to burn down. A box for the holiday contains 44.
Sometimes the shamash (the candle that lights the others - many alternate spellings) is at the end rather than the middle.
Nice work, candles can be challenging. I usually soft strobed them with a CTO gel.
I had plenty of Jewish faith customers and during the Hanukkah holidays I’d see these in their homes and in an effort to educate my self I’d ask questions. From memory the center candle is only used to light the other 8 candles on their respective day. What I don’t remember is if once lit the candles continue to burn thru all 8 days.
