10 I Saw Her Standing There

Boulder, CO

Now I'll never dance with another. Actually, I haven't danced with another since we got married nearly 33 years ago. We were waiting for some friends to join us, so we could walk to our local pub to eat indoors for the first time in over fourteen months. I was sitting on our deck, and I saw her standing there, so I took a photo, as always.

Hi Paul. Our neighbor does have solar panels. We tried to get them too, but the installation company told us that we would have to chop down a big tree, that is shading our roof. Otherwise, we simply wouldn't get enough sun for the panels to be effective. Much as we'd love to have solar panels, we weren't prepared to destroy a magnificent tree to get them installed. And the tree's shade keeps the house cooler in the summer.
Dave, the birdfeeder does look a bit like a Faraday cage (but the mesh is not tight enough for that).

And is that a Faraday birdfeeder?

Looks like your neighbor across the street has solar panels on his roof, do you have them too? Paul

To my eye, this is even better than the first.

I've darkened the car a bit, and replaced the original with this. The main reason we got the Edge was that I'm 6'4", my wife does most of the driving, and the Edge has the most comfortable passenger seat we could find. Not that we drive much, even when there isn't a pandemic. Boulder has great public transport, and neither of us enjoys being the designated driver when we go to bars, restaurants, or friends' houses.

I had an Edge about 15 years ago. I originally ordered an orangish color that I really liked, but my wife put the kibosh on it. The red was fine too. I remember it being a very heavy-feeling vehicle, which I know some people prefer.

Very good, Dave. It is an Edge. My wife even calls it "Edgy". She has had names for all our cars. Nice suggestion about darkening the car Jim. I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Even with this lighting, my eye goes to her.
Perhaps if the car was darkened a bit it would be even better.

But still - number one for me.

Too modern, but still Edgy.

Thanks everyone. Yes, our car is a bit too modern for the scene. Not quite 2019, though. It's a 2014 Ford.

I also think the treatment matches the scene. The sun hat, floral sun dress and sneakers. Now for just a moment imagine how this would look if a 1960 Chevy Corvette was parked there instead of a 2019??? Great eye and capture! This one is definitely on my voting radar. Paul

In so many ways, this is my favorite. Your short story is perfect.
