Retired Just like me!
This farm implement should qualify for all 3 of the challenge requirements back when it was being used on the farm.
I ran across this on a wonderful hiking trail at Clinton lake overlooking the lake.
When we first came upon this I hollered out to the hiking party to stop I want to take a picture. I was bringing up the rear and the 5 others walked right past it without even a 2nd glance. My first thoughts were it was a hay rake but as I studied it closer I realized that’s not what it was and before I could fully analyze it the party was making it known they were getting a little impatient and wanted to get moving again. I’ll figure it out later from the photos because I knew we had about 2 miles to go and the sun was dropping fast.
I am a experienced hiker and objected earlier in the hike that it might not be wise to continue all the way around since we started about 5:00 but was ignored by the others. We made it back to the campsite just as the sun was going down. Foolish foolish foolish. I was the only one with water and no one including me had a light. I was getting somewhat concerned until we-popped over the final ridge into the parking lot at the trailhead. Then we had to prepare dinner in the dark. Paul
Those longer metal tines look like they will break down the soil that has been turned with a plow. As this moves right to left in the photo, those rotating tines will break up the large clumps of dirt , smoothing it out before seed is planted.
This definitely looks like it ticks all the boxes. Nice find.
I'm having a problem working out what it does though. Is it a rake, seed sower, soil aerator?
