T - you also said " Losing on the other hand, thankfully infrequent, is entirely a personal responsibility. "
A simple question - have you ever tallied up the wins/losses and categorized them by judge or jury?
I would bet most of the losses have come from a jury. One reason I stayed away from law.
You said " This is the odd part about my business...when things go well and you win, after you work hard, striving, long nights of writing and thinking and editing and polishing organizing and preparing....then the victory, but the lingering feeling is that with these facts, anybody could have won this thing, even a monkey."
Me thinks you grossly undersell your work & effort. I/you could say the same the same thing about a lot of things. But without the organization and thinking, a bowl full of facts is just that - nothing that you can draw a conclusion from. That is why the phrase " why didn't I think of that" is used by so many that finish in second place.
Hi Jim, sometimes I have these internal conversations with you since I cannot have them with anyone else. With this being the case, I'd like to say that the monkey did well on Friday. This is why I was out and about in the late afternoon and able to take the Dodgers opening picture that I just posted.

The victory vanishes in a heartbeat and we praise the monkey for doing what is so easily done.
Losing on the other hand, thankfully infrequent, is entirely a personal responsibility. It is like dying and never leaves you.
Years can go by, even decades and it is still there, it is still a terrible wound, and a deep personal failure.
But as I noted, the monkey did well on Friday, and so it is back to work on Saturday.
Best Wishes, Traveller...Traveling on the road to double 7's....(grin)
I find this an interesting look at Americana today. Outdoor eating, spaced tables, heaters for the cooler evenings, Dodger Blue, and outdoor television which can be rolled back inside when things close up.
