I'm not to shy to say I don't know what I am doing. Remember, I'm a minimal post-processor at heart. While I'm happy to be using RAW, layers, add-on tools, and such hold little attraction for me. Please go to the challenge thread where there is a post that shows what I used (or, more accurately, tried to use).

I haven't graced my cubicle since March 13th. Our kitchen table (which has a much nicer view) has been my office since March 16th and likely will be for many more months). I am not one to count my chickens. It's way too premature to start thinking about the next topic.

Failed cloning? Confused I am, looks more like burning than cloning. You have plenty of dark space to clone from so it should have worked. Virtually a one click and it’s gone cloning. I agree with the others, what a eye catching capture this is and looks like it should be hanging on your office wall, or are you in a cubical or what ever the new buzz word for cubical is.

Do you have another challenge topic in your back pocket? Paul

Thanks for your kind words. I really don't see any difference in my technique. I'm still the "see it and shoot it guy you've all come to love (if not admire).

I was out with the dogs and saw the butterfly. I went inside to retrieve my camera and, naturally, the butterfly was nowhere in sight. So I waited for it to return, and my patience was rewarded.

What you see is a failed attempt at cloning. I actually liked it that way so uploaded the image. I'll post the original in Pending (which is sadly empty).

By the way, I misidentified the lens (since correctly). While the 100L macro is terrific, it can't shoot at 300mm.

I agree - this is one very fine image.
It is really good as is.
I debated about saying that the lower left flower should be cloned out - but I changed my mind. It gives the image very nice balance.
Print this and frame it.

Dearest David: This is outstanding! I will confess that I had a minor doubt or two when you joined our fair pastures....sometimes your work seemed to be a little rough around the edges...but this, for me, is kind of your arrival.

Of course, maybe you were a little rough at first but knew you could be better, do important work...and here was a good place, you decided, to learn, to teach yourself, to experiment and arrive.

I mean your polar bear was good, of course, and other images, but this is with a great camera, a very good lens...and you pulled it off.

So, while these two images are the same in some ways, in others they are very different...a good camera, you as a person, not the camera, making good decisions....

This is Fine Art.

Best Wishes, Traveller
