5 The Hand of Doc

Since Doc after the "Nam," became mostly a Search and Rescue kind of guy up along the Gold Rush Sierras, it is probably somehow oddly appropriate that Doc be cooking coffee on my office desk, a place dedicated to more citified pursuits, on a mini-gas stove and titanium cooking cup.

You escaped my happy clutches....lol...my last training company was October 1968. (Whew! It sure was odd writing that number....) But I was a good DI, I may have shouted and screamed but men loved me and I loved them which, I would suggest, is why we won, or I won, or my team of DI's won best training company time after time.

Doc's here, gotta run....Traveller

The real question is were you at Campbell chewing out dumb trainees like me the same time I was there. Maybe even me! D 7-2 September 7 1970 to October 30st 1970. Shipped out Halloween day for Fort Leonard Wood Mo. Maybe I should look closer at some of the photos of the DI's from my Blue Basic Training book I still have. Paul

Heck, you are right, Paul...he couldn't touch the handle after about 30 seconds.

As a side note it weirds me a lot and a little that you were stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky...my real Army stomping grounds after the Central Highlands of the Nam...and the seacoast, and the general center of that country...but I am bad on the war, (it is behind me and ain't got nothing to do with me! {snort and laugh}), yet Ft. Campbell is a fond memory.

I was back there for a funeral not too long ago...it was...weirdly something...the word good nor bad seems to fit well....lol

In any case I do find it odd, as do maybe you also, that we have an actual connection thought Ft. Campbell.

Best Wishes, Traveller

Looks like a pocket rocket, should boil that cup in about a minute. Pa
