Oh, and while I do have a flash (an old Canon Speedlite 420, I think) I'm very lazy about using it and have never tried off-camera.

Quite true, Paul. I noticed them when I was taking out the trash (and trying to avoid missing much of Jeopardy). Whatever kind of flower they are, they were in shade, unlike the dandelions in pending which were shot at f/4 and ISO 200.

Sorry to disappoint you, Mr. T., but all my shots were at f/4 to f/8. I imagine f/11 would have taken auto ISO to its set maximum of 6400. Maybe a 50% crop? I will put an uncropped version in Pending for evaluation.

I'll jump in here with a few comments. the posted EXIF says F8 and that it was shot at 7:30 at night which would explain the high ISO so I'm assuming Dave does not have a off camera flash/strobe setup to get more soft light on the scene. Paul

I do have a question....maybe a couple, the iso seems damned high! (But it seemed to work). Size? This is a very fine, maybe best in class macro lens....how much of a crop is this? Lastly, f8 seems adequate, but!....I presume t hat you shot this at f11 also, and maybe even f16....just as back-up frames, maybe good, maybe bad...but as tests....

I’d rather have the nice smooth background bokeh like you have over a sense of size. I think we all already know how small these guys are. Nice work Dave! Paul

Beautiful blues. I really like it.
And I know about how small they are.

I presume that they are small...you have done very well with this...and I am pretty critical (in a gentle way....lol), but this is sharp, clean and interesting! Traveller
