I know, I'm a whiner when it comes to off color backgrounds. Huge Whiner!! It's a me thing and pay no attention what so ever. The color of the fruit is perfect and like a few other entries I enjoy the creative approach to the challenge. Paul

Re background. I saw that as well, and it is easily changed by a white balance change. I too prefer a warmer look in the "birthing room".

Re exposure - the orange looks fine to me, but I am not on my calibrated AZ screen. I am on my MN screen which has not been calibrated in a year.

Sitting in a dark room as the sun has completely set...it does appear a little under exposed...just turned on a light behind me and shining on the screen, this effect seems to disappear. Hummm

Re the background, I knew you would bring this up...and so I did lift the lightness of the background...some. Stark white looked bad...I like a little warmth...this is a personal choice I guess...though I ALWAYS value highly anything you might say.

Also, I swapped the Dell monitor with the Samsung, as did you...much better, but I think I need to get a new monitor for downstairs now...the Dell really continues to look terrible.

Thanks

I can honestly say every time I’m in SoCal I love the fresh fruit and am jealous of how consistently great It always is. I’m not sure about the background on this tho, and I’m sure I’ve given my opinion on it before but to me it’s a off color of pink, brown and white when still life photography of this style is generally shot as pure white. Might be slightly underexposed too. Paul.

Perhaps the the title is "The Birth of a Cherry"

Anyway, I understand the thrill of fresh fruit. I am a melon fan, and can't wait for the multiple varieties that will soon show up- beyond the common cantaloupe (or cantalope)

Jim, it's cherries time. I don't know why, but starting last spring, the California market was flooded with ripe and luscious cherries...I ate pounds of them! And so again this year.

Cherries at Costco are almost 6.50 and 7.50 a pound...at the .99 cent story, I get them for $1.99...the season is only about 10 days old and I've easily gone though 8 lbs already.

And oranges, at food for less, $.99 cents a pound...this is more than I want to pay, (.79 cents would be better)...but all this fruit and veggies I buy are...just beyond peak freshness...which is fine by me, since I'm going to eat them all anyhow...soon if not now....lol

For me, this fills the frame better, then the stem. The knife is more secondary, which I also prefer. It is not lost.

Hmm - different title -- makes me think a bit.

Yes, exactly, this is what brought me over to this version...but the knife was better in the other, imo.

This may simply need a different title.

Better cherry stem in this one.

This is my favorite of the two - and a really nice capture of a creative idea.
