I figured the marking in the lower right section of the 2x4 was a mark due to the compression bands they use to ship a truck load of them to the lumber yard. Paul

Cut 2x4. I saw this laying on the ground and noticed the layers in it. Someone already beat me to wood but mine is treated wood. So... :)
