Great idea with the oil.
I probably would have tried water - or most likely a 2nd strawberry.

Re the Juicy Strawberry....lol...!

At first, it wasn't sliced open...it was whole, that didn't work so well, so I sliced it oped as you see it, but then my batteries went dead in the 580ex flash after 3 shots...so I went out to to buy some batteries, and went ahead and had dinner out when I was at it...when I got home, the open strawberry was all desiccated and looked very unappetizing...

Hummm...What to do?

Get a Q-tip, paint the the open face of the strawberry with olive oil, but that was too much, take a tissue, clean up this poor, now fairly abused strawberry, and try again...

Voila`...fresh and precious and succulent as if it were new!

Traveller - the pure white comment is not a surprise to me.
I too like the green, especially the one stem in front.
But the juicy strawberry really makes it for me.

I did do an eye dropper, the reflection and diffusion of red on the background was surprisingly great...but a pure white was just terrible as you hinted at, Jim. This is a little softer and works better for me...it is a lot off from where it was, but not starkly white either.

I will also note that learning how to use manual settings for my f14 really worked out well...I am almost always a Tv guy, letting Av float...and never go into manual settings so this was great fun.

As was working again with my 580ex flash and off camera cord.

All in all, good fun and I really liked the results....especially the touch of green here and there.

Best Wishes, Traveller

Yes, the background is "off white", possibly caused by reflections from all the red. But it works for me; a bit softer than all white. All pure white might be too bright and harsh - though it might be worth a look & see.

I see multiple layers and works for me. I do see a off white color in the background which you should be able to easily correct with the eyedropper. Paul

Very creative, and very well done. Good job on the lighting as well. Reds on Canons are often blown out, and these look perfect.
